You can watch this two-minute video showing William speaking at a May 2010 event in New York City:

William Powers speaks at conferences, universities, and writers conferences, and to citizen organizations and community associations, in both the U.S. and abroad.

He is a dynamic and personable speaker who uses humor to engage his audience and share his experiences. Whether at large conferences in Orlando or at panel discussions at the World Policy Institute in New York, where he is a Senior Fellow), William inspires and entertains his audiences and engages them in intense thought provoking discussions.

Among other topics, he speaks about his decade-plus of international development and conservation work, finding the right economic incentives and policies to save the world’s climate and rain forests, and  practicing “less is more” in a consumer-driven society.

With the 2010 release of his new book, Twelve by Twelve, William is eager to involve young energetic college students in a quest to find solutions to the environmental crisis. He hopes that through the discussion the next generation will take more personal responsibility towards sustainability and their environment. He is presently scheduling university visits for Fall 2010.

"Bill Powers fills the room with contagious energy. He combines insight into complex problems with moving stories of the people who are affected by climate change and social violence. His tales from the remotest corners of the world humanize the good and the bad that come with globalization, and his message is powerful: our world is fragile and its fate is in the hands of every single human being."
